Abstract:
We discuss a global fit of top quark BSM couplings, phrased in the model-independent language of higher-dimensional effective operators, to the currently available data from the LHC and Tevatron. We examine the interplay between inclusive and differential measurements, and the complementarity of LHC and Tevatron results. We conclude with a discussion of projections for improvement over LHC Run II.

Abstract:
I review recent progress in the computation of processes involving top quarks in the framework of Standard Model Effective Theory at NLO in QCD. In particular I discuss the impact of higher-dimensional operators on top pair production in association with a photon, a Z boson and a Higgs. Results are obtained within the automated framework of MadGraph5_aMC@NLO.

Abstract:
Higher order calculations are necessary to predict and describe measurements in high energy collider physics. In recent years multiple approaches to combine multiple next-to-leading (NLO) order corrections with parton showers had been presented. We present on recent developments and future perspective. We highlight similarities and ambiguities in the procedure of achieving a multijet merging at NLO.

Abstract:
We propose changes to the colour reconnection model in the Monte Carlo event generator Herwig in order to remove the quasi diffractive events from the soft multiple parton interactions. We then implement explicitly soft diffraction and show some preliminary results.
