Projects

The work of MCnet is divided into Projects. Herwig++, Ariadne, Sherpa and Pythia8 are all projects to develop new or replacement event generators for the LHC era and beyond. ThePEG is a project to develop a new framework for implementing event generators: Herwig++ and Ariadne are based on it.

CEDAR is a more general project aimed to provide general-purpose facilities to do high energy physics analysis and phenomenology. Among its many sub-projects, Rivet is particularly important for MCnet, providing a generator-independent framework for comparison of event generator predictions with corrected data, useful, in particular, for generator validation and tuning.
